PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF FUNCTION:

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Manufacturing Coach will effectively manage the production planning, staffing, employee performance and development, and the day-to-day department/unit manufacturing operations in a cost-effective manner

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Management and improvement of all aspects of safety and good practice in the department
Management of the workforce and creation of a safety conscious, interested and engaged workforce that will be productive and proud to work at AP.
Management and improvement of the quality of goods made within the department
Ensure product is to specification and suggest improvements where necessary
Adherence to production targets and create action plans when shortfalls become evident.
Participation and leading of continuous improvement teams within and without the department.
Training of department personnel in best practices and then documenting as standard work practices.
A contributing member of a management team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

At least 10 years of progressive responsibility and successful management in a manufacturing environment.
Proven working knowledge and practical use of Lean Manufacturing principles and process improvement tools
Knowledge of high mix / low volume manufacturing systems
Computer literate in floor management systems and Microsoft Office suite.
Solid working knowledge of material flows and the recording and monitoring of all transactions in the manufacturing environment
Understanding of production control systems
Thorough understanding and ability to link improvements to bottom-line results.
Proficient working knowledge of quality systems and control methods
Proven record of building rapport with subordinates and peers while creating a culture of continuous improvement
Proven record of successfully leading Cross Functional Improvement teams
Thorough understanding of and proven ability to implement and manage safety and housekeeping protocols
Persistent person with a good work ethic
Ability to successfully implement and manage change – a true agent of change management
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE

Associate degree preferred, but not necessarily critical for the position, as experience and application of the above skills is also acceptable.
At least 10 years of experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment
