REPORTS TO: Section Coach or Team Leader

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF FUNCTION

The Set Up Operator is responsible to set up and operate assigned machinery and perform tasks in a safe and productive manner while meeting or exceeding production targets. The set up person is responsible for the good functioning and storage of tooling in the section. This grade applies to Lockseamer, Flanger, Stuffer, Dennison, Capper, Spinner; Secondary Presses, PerfSA, Subassemblies, Heat Shield, Nipple Line and Splicing.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Performs minor or basic Set ups and must safely operate assigned machinery.
Correctly enters production and scrap into the stock reporting system.
Ensures that tooling and equipment is in good operating and safe working order.
Meet or exceed set production targets where applicable.
Meet or improve on defined set up time.
Verifies count on incoming and produced parts.
Ensures jobs are set up properly and handed over to the operator.
Performs basic maintenance functions on machines and tooling.
Report existing or potential machine problems to the Coach or Team Leader.
Determines from the cell queue which jobs to pull and set up.
Keep area, machines, tools and equipment clean, organized and clear of debris.
Ensure that machines sent to maintenance are properly tagged.
Must use correct PPE and dress safely for the job.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must demonstrate a Mechanical aptitude.
Possess requisite math, writing, reading and communication skills.
Ability to manufacture good quality product at the set rate of output.
Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Ability to maintain production rates to department standards.
Ability to correctly set up and run the product in the correct order.
Ability to correctly follow and give instructions.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Must be able to communicate well with others and have good organization skills.
Data entry skills are a plus.
Ability to work consistently without constant supervision.
Steel toed shoes required, no sleeveless shirts allowed.
Hours as assigned with the probability of overtime during the week and on Saturday.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent
Manufacturing experience a plus
Bilingual a plus

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL EFFORT

Manufacturing Plant Environment -
Machinery = 90% of time used

Position and % of time in position -
Standing/Walking = 90%
Lifting = Some up to 30 lbs.
Pushing/Pulling = Some Required

Condition and % of time in condition -
Summer Heat = 50%
Winter Cold = 50%
Noise = 100%
