STOPTECH GT RACING CALIPER PREMIERES ON THE PODIUM WITH TURNER MOTORSPORT AT GRAND-AM 200 TO KICK OFF 2011 RACE SEASON

Los Angeles (February 2, 2011) – Tuner Motorsport opened up the 2011 racing season this weekend for Team StopTech with a podium finish on StopTech brakes at the Continental Tire GRAND-AM 200 in Florida. The race represented the official debut of the STR-40GT racing caliper from StopTech, the ultra-performance division of Centric Parts, loaded with the company's racing innovations and optimized for endurance racing.

The official debut of the StopTech GT Racing Caliper propels Turner Motorsport to Podium at Grand Am 200Teammates Paul Dalla Lana, Joey Hand, and Bill Auberlen piloted the #96 NorthWest/Turner Motorsport BMW M3 to a third place GS class finish at the 200-miler at Daytona International Speedway. The team pulled 62 laps around the 3.56-mile, 12-turn course at a blistering 86.977 average miles per hour, which earned them a trip to the podium at the season opener of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series.

At almost 750 turns in this single race, any advantage in the corners magnifies out to a significant advantage in the quest for a podium finish. The StopTech STR-40GT design specifically benefits endurance racing such as the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge GS-class competition, loading the maximum volume of racing friction in a two-piece, bolted four-piston caliper with two pads.

The StopTech STR-40GT pulls features from both the original StopTech ST series calipers and the company's top-of-the-line Trophy STR racing calipers. It features StopTech's patented bolt-in bridge technology which reinforces the caliper, virtually eliminates distortion, provides slots to enhance cooling airflow, and allows changing brake pads without disturbing the caliper’s mounting. The calipers are machined from billet and sport a natural anodized finish that is impervious to color change at the continuous high temperatures experienced during race conditions.

As with any StopTech Balanced Brake Upgrade BBK system, the STR-40GT is available with pistons sized for the requirements of any production-based race car, including those with OE master cylinders, boosters and vehicle dynamics control systems. The correct pedal effort, travel and feel will be maintained, as well as the distribution of brake torque between front and rear axles, yielding the maximum deceleration. Electronic aids such as ABS work correctly and tuning, if allowed under a racing series’ rules, is simplified.

The Turner Motorsport team earns a podium finish at the Grand Am 200 on the new StopTech GT Racing CaliperAs the first race of the 2011 racing season for Team StopTech, Turner Motorsport and the StopTech GT caliper have started things off with a bang. Team StopTech, not an actual race team, consists of select production-based race cars and teams racing on StopTech brakes.

The race will be broadcast on the Speed Channel on February 5 at 3:00pm ET. The next stop in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series will be the Homestead 200 on March 4-5 in Florida.
