TEAM STOPTECH STAYS STRONG AS SAINI WINS NEW JERSEY SPEED TC WORLD CHALLENGE FOR TRI-POINT MOTORSPORTS
Los Angeles (May 05, 2009) - Jason Saini of Fort Worth, Texas, earned a first place finish at the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car round in New Jersey in Tri-Point Motorsports' Mazdaspeed/Stoptech/Racinghart MAZDA6, adding to Team StopTech's continuing plethora of "podium or pole-position" weekends this season. Team StopTech, which is itself not an actual race team, consists of the select production based race cars from the Tri-Point Motorsports, GMG Racing and Turner Motorsport teams competing on StopTech performance brakes in the Grand-Am Koni Sports Car Challenge Series and the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Series.
Saini started third then moved to second at the standing start. Lap three saw Saini move to the inside through the first turn and take the lead from the defending series champion, Peter Cunningham. This was the second SCCA SPEED World Challenge victory for Saini, who previously won at Miller Motorsports Park on his way to being named "Rookie of the Year" in 2008. Saini pointed to his car's ability "to get down on the inside" as a key factor in the New Jersey victory.
Team StopTech's "podium or pole-position" season kicked off with a Turner Motorsport first place finish at the Grand-Am Koni Sports Car Challenge race at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida with the No. #96 StopTech Brakes BMW M3. Next, StopTech CEO Dino Crescentini scored pole position in his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup for Global MotorSports Group (GMG) Racing during the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT stop in Sebring. The next stop for that series was in Long Beach, where GMG Racing and Team StopTech struck again with James Sofronas taking the checkered flag.
"Last year was a great year for StopTech brakes on the track, so this strong start for the 2009 racing season is a real show of our momentum," noted Crescentini.
